Zadanie
Wspólne informacje do wiązki zadań
A constructed study investigates social learning in captive budgerigars. A food dispenser can be opened by moving either a left or a right slider. Each group contains 12 initially naive birds. L and R also contain one demonstrator trained on the left or right slider respectively; C has no demonstrator. Counts below refer only to initially naive birds. A bird becomes a learner after two successful openings.
Figure 1 tracks learners for six days. Figure 2 shows openings by route during those days. Figure 3 summarizes individual proficiency after 14 days, calculated as total openings divided by days taken to become a learner. In C, bird c7 made 240 openings.
Polecenie
Justify the conclusion that birds can discover the mechanism without a demonstrator, but learners exposed to demonstrators generally become more proficient.

Odpowiedź z klucza
C has a learner by day 4 despite having no demonstrator, supporting spontaneous discovery. ✔
Both trained groups develop more learners than C. ✔
Both trained groups make many more openings than C in the first six days. ✔
The median proficiency index is higher for L + R than C. ✔
The successful control outlier c7 independently supports discovery without a demonstrator. ✔
Schemat punktowania
Award any 3 distinct evidence-linked points, maximum 3. Accept a valid additional interpretation of combined data; do not infer statistical significance or learning time alone from proficiency indices without further evidence.
