Wspólne informacje do wiązki zadań
A symmetric polynomial family is defined by f(x) = x8 + bx4 + d, where b,d are real and d≠0. A double root α satisfies f(α)=0 and f′(α)=0; complex roots are allowed in the algebraic parts. In 1e–1g assume α is a double root. In 1h–1i drop this double-root assumption and take b<0 instead. A root on the imaginary axis is called purely imaginary when its real part is zero.
Polecenie
Prove that −α is also a double root.

Evenness gives f(−α)=f(α)=0. Oddness of the derivative gives f′(−α)=−f′(α)=0. Thus −α satisfies both defining conditions. Since f(0)=d≠0, α≠0, so this is a distinct root. A complete factor argument proving multiplicity is equivalent.
Schemat punktowania
M1: use evenness or evaluate f(−α). A1: establish f(−α)=0. M1: use oddness or evaluate f′(−α). A1: establish f′(−α)=0 and the double-root conclusion. The two pairs are independent. A real-graph symmetry argument alone does not cover a complexα.
Komentarz. Paper 3: calculator and AA HL formula booklet allowed. Supply complete proofs and sufficient reasoning; numerical evidence alone does not establish a general identity.
