Let f(x) = (2x − 3)/(x − 3) for x ≠ 3, and let g(x) = mx + 1, where m ≠ 0.
Polecenie
(i) For m > 0, state the number of real solutions of f(x) = g(x). (ii) Find m for which there is exactly one real solution. (iii) Find all m for which there are two distinct solutions and both are nonnegative.

Clearing the denominator gives x(1 + 3m − mx) = 0. Thus the roots are 0 and 3 + 1/m; the latter is never the excluded x=3. (i) If m>0, the second root exceeds 3, so there are two. (ii) The roots coincide only when 3 + 1/m = 0, giving m = −1/3. (iii) The second root must be strictly positive: (3m + 1)/m > 0. Its sign chart gives m < −1/3 or m > 0.
Schemat punktowania
(i) A1: two. (ii) M1: form a quadratic by clearing the denominator. A1: correct quadratic/factorization. M1: require coincident roots or zero discriminant. A1: m=−1/3. (iii) A1: branch m<−1/3. A1: branch m>0, with the excluded endpoints and no extra values. A valid tangent-at-zero method is also accepted for (ii).
