The real coefficients give conjugate roots 2i and −2i. Substitution yields P(2i) = 5m − 80/m + i(8 − 2m) = 0, so m=4; the real part then also vanishes. Hence P(z) = 20 − 4z + 5z2 − z3 = (z2 + 4)(5 − z). The roots are 2i,−2i,5.
Schemat punktowania
A1:root 2i. A1:conjugate root −2i. M1: substitute a root or form the conjugate quadratic factor. M1: compare real/imaginary parts or coefficients. A1:m=4. A1:third root 5. Root-sum/product or polynomial-division methods are equally valid. Merely identifying z²+4 without attempting factorization/division earns no factorization M1. Roots 2i and −2i may be seen through P(±2i)=0 or in a sum/product. A factored final polynomial without any identification of roots earns at most A0A0M1M1A1A1 (4/6). In the root-sum/product route, a definite wrong sign for 20/m or 5m may still earn the relevant method mark; writing an unresolved ± sign does not.
