A random sample is drawn without replacement from a container of r red counters and y yellow counters, where r,y are positive integers with y>r. In experiment A, two counters are drawn and the probability that they have the same colour is 2/3. In a separate experiment B, the container instead has8 red counters and y yellow counters, where y≥2; three counters are drawn. Let B denote the event of exactly one red and two yellow counters. For experiment B the two-colour condition of experiment A does not apply.
